Welcome to the official website of Lake Nyasa Basin Water Board |

We are a government institution mandated to manage and develop water resources in Mbeya, Songwe, Njombe, and Ruvuma regions, established under the Water Resources Management Act No. 11 of 2009 and its amendments (No. 8 of 2022).

Our core services include issuance of Water-related Permits (Water use, Drilling, Discharge and Easement Permit), Hydrological and Hydrogeological Surveys, Environmental and Social assessments, Hydrometeorological data provision, consultancy on water infrastructure (Boreholes drilling, Dams and Water sources intake construction), and registration of Water Users Associations (WUA’s).

Through this platform, we aim to provide easy access to our services, share important data and guidelines, and engage all stakeholders in sustainable Water Resource Management.

We offer the following services:

  6. To maintain and update assessments of the availability and potential demand for water resources.
  7. To create awareness to stakeholders on matters relating to water resources conservation and management.
